Here is some information surrounding the accident and her latest status:

Background Story

On Monday, January 4 at approx. 6:45 pm Richelle was in a car accident.  She over-corrected and her car flipped and turned upside down and backwards landing on the hood of her car in the middle of the road.  She was transported to Morton General Hospital and from there they determined that her 5th Vertebre (sp?) was broken.  Because of weather conditions they could not airlift her out, so they took her by ambulance to Chehalis where a medi-vac helicopter was waiting and then transported her to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Journal - updated 1/12/10 10:48pm

Richelle continues to do well and make small steps forward.  This afternoon my mom was rubbing Richelle's lower back and hip and Richelle looked at her and asked, "Are you touching me?  I can feel something!"  Amazing!  We continue to thank God for all of the progress that Richelle makes each day.  Richelle should start rehab tomorrow, which is up on the 4th floor.  She will be there for 4-6 weeks, depending on how things go, and then at the end of that period, they will re-assess how she is doing and either ask for additional rehab or send her home for in-home care.  During the first two-days of rehab (Wednesday and Thursday of this week) they are asking for no visitors, with the exception of immediate family.  And the main reason for this, is that she will be very tired because the first two days they work them really hard.  Richelle is ready to get up to rehab and can't wait to get started.
Richelle asked me to tell everyone this..."God doesn't give me anything that I can't handle or overcome, and I WILL walk.  So please keep praying and know that I am NEVER going to accept this and give up, but I will fight for everything and show the Doctors how wrong they are."

The doctors just came in and Richelle has some bacteria, so this is going to delay her going to Rehab by another day.  So it is looking like she will be in the ICU until Wednesday.  We all want Richelle very healthy and so we feel this is best as well!  Richelle was able to get a lot of rest today, but I kept waking her up so that she will sleep tonight:)  Thank you all so much for everything!  God bless!

Richelle is doing wonderful, and is on schedule to move up to the 4th floor (rehab) sometime today.  Her schedule when she gets up there starts at 8:15 am and goes until about 4:00 pm.  So during the week, her visiting hours will be after 4:00 pm until about 9:00 pm.  On Saturdays, she only has 1/2 day workouts, so anything after about noon is fine.  Sundays are her "days off" so she can have visitors from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Her breathing is doing good, and she is overcoming this obstacle.  She wasn't able to get a lot of sleep last night, but only because she was wide awake!  We aren't sure what time she will move up to the 4th floor today, but if you get here to visit and we aren't in "our" waiting room, please come to the 4th floor ;)
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support.  I know that I say this in just about every post I write on here, but I truely mean it from the bottom of my heart.  We are blessed to have each and every one of you!
